Off into the sunset

Living like there's nothing left to lose

The wind kept howling like a swirling storm inside-- Well, actually there was no storm at all. Campionpaw was as calm as could be as he crept out of the apprentice den. He knew most cats were sleeping. And he had been working on his stealth. His paw steps were quiet, quiet enough he hoped. Surely he was still a beginner but he was trying and getting better as the days passed by. Lionstorm surely had his paws full with trying to educate young Campionpaw, who more than often had his own schedule in mind.

Just like now. He kept himself low to the ground, careful not to get in view of the guards who kept an eye open during the night to ensure all would be fine. To ensure no enemies would come from outside. That was good. They needed no enemies in camp. And if they came? Campionpaw's claws were sharp enough to leave a few nasty cuts, surely.

And the reason why he was outside was pretty simple too. It started with a 'P'. And ended on a 'w'. Pollenpaw. Who had been standing in the middle of camp, staring solemnly ahead. For so long that Campionpaw finally decided to move forward. A roll of the eyes, he resisted the urge to sigh as he slunk forward in the dark, knowing he stood out with his bright pelt. But it was what it was. He would have to be extra careful.

Gracefully stepping forward he finally smirked to himself, deciding he knew exactly what to do. It took a little bit of expertise. A little bit of fumbling about. But eventually he found himself on the other side, the side where Pollenpaw was trying to go to. And he moved forward. He heard her squeaking, saw her scrambling back. And finally popped out his head from the barrier, eyes glistening up mischievously as he watched her, head tilting a bit.

"What are you waiting for, until the crow sings?" he finally whispered, moving through the barrier and giving a purr. "You want to step outside? Come on then. Let's step outside. Before other cats notice us."

Campionpaw
